What are the characteristics of lighting design both domestically and internationally?

Category:

We all know that both educational philosophy and lifestyle are different between China and foreign countries. Below, the editor will take lighting design as an example to introduce in detail the characteristics of each country.
1、 Constraints on ideas, concepts, and starting points
Lighting abroad is designed for buildings, indoor spaces, and needs. Most lighting designs in China are designed for the purpose of selling products, with different purposes and starting points. The overall gap is manifested in: ideology, philosophy, and starting point.
Foreign lighting design is often pure lighting design, design is work, design is to do the lighting that is most suitable for the owner and project, and the lighting market in foreign countries is relatively mature, with high awareness of the owner, so there can be some * * * lighting designers growing in foreign countries; However, in China, there is a lack of systematic and comprehensive learning in lighting design. Most of them have transferred from other industries and lack professional lighting knowledge. The second is the domestic market chaos. Designers, manufacturers, and engineering companies come and go, which is not standardized. In addition, the owner's awareness of lighting needs is not high, so the level of lighting professionals in China varies. However, even if the level of domestic designers is poor, they can still have their own market.
The gap between lighting brands is reflected in the words "seriousness, quality, brand, and packaging". There are also good products in China, but promotion is not enough, and it is easy to be overwhelmed by some products with poor quality and low prices, making it difficult for domestic brands to survive. It is recommended that domestic brands combine the advantages of foreign brands, as well as the current lighting situation in China, and prepare for synchronous development.
Only by strengthening comprehensive, systematic, and comprehensive learning, as well as understanding products and communicating with manufacturers, can we develop lighting products that are most suitable for the project and the owner, and create the most suitable lighting design works.
2、 Objective environment constrains the performance of domestic designers
There has been no systematic investigation or comprehensive statistical data on the differences in lighting design between China and foreign countries. However, based on some data, it is not difficult to see that there is indeed a gap in lighting design and application between China and foreign countries, and the reasons and manifestations of the gap are also multifaceted.
In terms of functional lighting, the gap between China and foreign countries may be more pronounced. Because functional lighting must first meet functional needs, in addition to relevant norms and objective standards, it also requires a lot of consideration for comfort. However, domestic design is only limited to illuminance standards and so-called energy efficiency limitations, and less consideration is given to the physiological and psychological effects caused by lighting effects, lighting distribution patterns, lighting environment characteristics, and so on. In addition, from the perspective of decorative lighting, domestic designers may consider more decorative aspects, and for effects such as color and dynamics, design is mainly based on sensation.
In fact, the formation of the gap is closely related to the objective environment. Currently, the domestic environment is not very good, and many designers consider market demand and are doing performance, which will lead to many projects in terms of performance. For example, some projects or property owners require designers to create stunning effects in a short period of time that can attract attention. For example, foreign lighting products have their own brand awareness, which will make their products distinctive, specialize in a certain aspect, and enable their own products to achieve * * * in a certain field. However, domestic lighting product manufacturers often strive for perfection and produce all kinds of products, but lack specificity, especially in the core part of domestic lighting, optical design, which is seriously inadequate. These objective environmental factors also constrain the level of designers to play.
Firstly, the environment should be improved because it seriously affects the direction of design, and even allowing designers to improve can be challenging. Secondly, designers themselves need to cultivate internal skills and have a sense of responsibility. Lighting is interdisciplinary, so designers need to understand not only physiology and psychology, but also lighting technology. Of course, this is also a process that the industry needs to go through when it first starts. We need to admit that there are gaps, and the road is long and we need to walk slowly.
3、 Differences cannot be generalized
Lighting design and application are different concepts. In terms of lighting design, the gap between domestic and international is mainly reflected in the overall poor level of domestic design. Due to the rapid development of the lighting industry, the foundation of personnel involved is also different. From initial creativity to construction and final debugging, they cannot be completed according to requirements and lack complete practical experience. Many foreign companies may participate in dozens of projects at the same time, but the project cycle is very long. Lighting designers follow the entire process from creativity, implementation to acceptance, and basically complete it according to requirements.
In fact, the gap between designers cannot be generalized, and the level of designers cannot be compared. They can only be compared by their works. There are also some designers in China who do well, but compared to their 30-40 years of experience abroad, they are still relatively informal.
For lighting products, the brand gap is not easy to generalize. Domestic products are also good, and not all foreign products are * * *. But currently, it is common in China to excessively pursue quantity, neglect quality, lack brand awareness, compete at low prices, attract money, use cheap materials, and have poor processing. These phenomena are not only related to lighting products. Of course, there are also some large domestic companies that have realized the market situation and want to take a high-end route.
In fact, regardless of the product or design, development follows the following direction: first, a low-carbon economy. At present, global energy conservation and environmental protection are the main directions, and design and products will develop in this direction. Another point is that design involves art, which requires improving the cultural level and brand awareness of lighting, cultivating artistic orientation, removing colorful designs, and emphasizing art.
The above is the introduction of the characteristics of lighting design at home and abroad by the editor. I hope my summary is helpful to everyone.
